Sun Shines with Roberto Cavalli
Dress by ROBERTO CAVALLI, Clutch by CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN, Bootie Heel by CHANEL
I think fashion definitely dictates my love for each season. I have always lived in warm weather
environments, so the only happy thought I get when I imagine going into colder climates is what I will wear. When I think of going to New York I get excited about wearing thigh-high boots, layered with cute gloves, scarves and a newsboy cap. I blame that on the movie “ The Devil Wears Prada.” The cream coat, with the cream newsboy cap, and metallic bag was my hands-down absolute favorite!
If you think about it, the two most common questions that start any day are what is the weather like and what am I going to wear? California has funny weather. It is always sunny but not always warm. Seeing girls wearing jeans, tank tops, flip flops with a scarf and beanie is our idea of dressing warm. If this is how we dress in the winter, then you should see Californians in the summer. Hello sunshine, hello SKIN! I’m not sure why, but for some reason there are certain beaches that have started giving tickets to girls for wearing thong bikinis. I personally think it is just a reason for cops to be able to approach the girl bathing in her thong and get her name and number. Guaranteed the ticket is never written, it always ends up being a written warning. I have a twisted way of thinking, but these days the twisted version is usually reality.
Anyways, as I babble on about summer and imagining the day that we all get to say HELLO SUNSHINE, the vision of this outfit of the day comes into play. FYI if you are blessed/cursed with Jennifer Anniston nipples like myself, this is not the dress for you! If you don’t know what I am talking about, google it, not sure how much SEO I will get for rambling on about nipples, LOL. I personally had to clone stamp mine out in photoshop for this shot. Nipples or no nipples, it doesn’t make this dress any less fabulous!
Roberto Cavalli must have been there when GOD was creating women, because he hands down creates the sexiest body hugging dresses I have ever seen. Mind you, I am more of a fan of his flowing gowns that grace the runway every year, but when someone hands me Roberto Cavalli anything, the answer is always YES! Say yes to the dress and ask questions later. So shortly after my yes to the dress, the nipple question arose. Nipple covers make my nipples look like they are big and swollen which is every girl’s dream…NOT! My solution to a dress like this is to add long clip in hair extensions. I add long hair and keep the hair laying over, and down my chest. Any type of bra would mess up the way the dress lays against the body, so this is the best solution for me. Yes it limits movement, but who cares…you are wearing Roberto Cavalli! As Tim Gunn would say, make it work!
Now that the dress has stolen the whole show, I must give the accessories an introduction. Chanel needs no introduction. The cream caged bootie heel by Chanel is the perfect compliment to this dress. I love the closed toe because I am a bit of a germaphobe and I hate coming home with dirty feet. Side note, whoever invented the flip flop should be shot. The so-called shoe literally works as a dirt scooper, repeatedly shuffling dirt under your feet with every step. I am patiently awaiting the headline that reads “DEATH BY FLIP FLOP!" Trust me, it will happen. Have you ever caught the edge of a folded flip flop mid step? It launches you forward, dirt and all, with the might of a diving board like you could never believe. Anyway, back to CHANEL! I loved that these booties are caged with a sheer lining. It allows me to focus on the fabulous and not the filthy.
If you are a Sex and the City fan, then clearly you understand my bag choice. A punch of color makes every outfit happier. This pink patent bow clutch is by the one-and-only Christian Louboutin. Hand me a martini and a cute boy and I am good to go. HELLO SUNSHINE!
