Fashion Confession with Isabel Marant

As I sit here wearing my insanely gorgeous gold metallic floral lame Isabel Marant pleated skirt set and snake print Jimmy Choo heels, preowned of course! I wonder how many fashion confessions a girl makes in her life. I personally give every tip away. Meaning if another girl asks me where I got something, I am sure to lead her in the right direction, instead of saying I don't remember. I am also never afraid to say if something is secondhand or bought at a cheap store. You would be surprised how many compliments I get on my thrift store finds versus the pieces that I spend money on from department stores.
Every now and then I work weekends at a beauty bar in Southern California that is packed with beautiful, wealthy, blonde women. Every single day I get flooded with compliments from all these nice ladies. It's either on my hair which is styled by the girls at the beauty bar, or on my clothes. I always say thank you, and carry-on with my duties.
One day as I was walking through the salon and of the customers that was getting a blowout stopped me to compliment my outfit. I proceeded to tell her that my pants were purchased for $7 and my boots for $21 at a thrift store. Let's just say if she could see her own face and the face that she unconsciously made, she would never make that face again! She was clearly disgusted by the thought of scavenging through a thrift store and actually wearing clothes that came from a place like that. Maybe she was more taken back at the fact that she loved my look so much. Did that cheapen and her sense of style in her mind? Who knows…They trick to thrift store shopping is to find the baddest ass, richest neighborhood you can and find one near there. If you are an artist and like edgy clothing, go to where all the musicians and artists live, and find one there. Always remember it is not how much something cost which dictates how fabulous you look. It's how you style it and how you work it!
Either way, it will never stop me from making my fashion confessions.
